About CAFO

Who is behind CAFO?

Namibian Children helped by CAFOCAFO stands for Namibia's Church Alliance for Orphans - Namibia's first interfaith networking organization that is dedicated to the development and sustainability of support programmes for orphans and vulnerable children in their respective communities.

CAFO was founded in October 2002 and is motivated by the dream that all children fulfill their God-given potential.
Since the launch in 2002, CAFO's membership has grown to 340 organizations made up of 68 CAFO committees present in 68 towns and villages throughout Namibia's 13 provinces.

Within its first year, CAFO held two national training conferences, targeting some 550 persons from all over the country, to help local church members with starting and maintaining programmes they want to implement.

Consultations with staff at the national office are ongoing. Start-up funds are available for small projects such as afterschool activities, HIV/AIDS information and activity programmes, soup kitchens, emergencymedical assistance, and the training of volunteers on how to offer psychosocial support to orphans and other vulnerable children.
